Exhibition walls for Boris Lurie have a second life

Leaving trash is never a good idea, especially not in Venice. Die Boris Lurie Art Foundation And that Center for Persecuted Arts In Solingen, therefore, set an example for innovative exhibition projects and sustainable action: On the occasion of the 2024 Biennale, the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice the exhibition “Boris Lurie. Life with the Dead” realized. With over 100,000 visits, it was not only a highlight in terms of content but also an example of resource-saving planning and implementation.

The exhibition system developed specifically for this exhibition by Venetian architect Michael Klopfer, consisting of modular walls, light installations and presentation elements, was designed in such a way that it can be used flexibly and over the long term. After the Biennale was completed, this system remained in Venice and is now used in the renowned art school Michelangelo Guggenheim Artistic State Liceo used by aspiring artists. This reuse makes it possible to protect valuable materials, to keep transport as low as possible, and to make a contribution to sustainability in the cultural sector.

“We are proud that our planning worked and that we were not only able to realise a successful exhibition in Venice, but also actively avoided waste,” explains Dr. Jürgen Joseph Kaumkötter, director of the museum Center for Persecuted Arts. “It was important for us to think beyond mere exhibitions and to find sustainable solutions that would also benefit other institutions. ”

With this pioneering initiative, the Boris Lurie Art Foundation And that Center for Persecuted Arts not only helps to strengthen cultural exchange, but also to establish environmentally friendly working methods in museums and exhibitions.

We have now received a report from Venice about the successful use of the exhibition walls:

“Dear architect Michael Klopfer
and Director Jürgen Joseph Kaumkötter,

On behalf of the headmistress, the teaching staff and all students of our art high school, I would like to express our sincere thanks to you for the generous donation of the exhibition boards for art (DECISION NO. 9 School Council of 14 NOVEMBER 2024).

Thanks to your initiative, which was supported by the “Center for Persecuted Arts” in Solingen and “Boris Lurie Art Foundation” in New York, we had the opportunity to significantly enrich our school's exhibition spaces. The panels were used both to display the students' work in Via Rielta and to design the “Blitz Art” exhibition, which is currently on view at our headquarters in Carmini as part of an institutional project.

For us, your donation is not only a valuable material contribution, but also a real encouragement for the creativity and artistic expression of our students, who are thus offered appropriate spaces to enhance and present their work.

Thank you once again for your generous support and commitment to the artistic education of young people.

Attached is a PDF file with pictures of the exhibitions at the two locations.

sincerely

Marco Lorusso

Deputy — first employee of the headmistress”

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
