Documentary “Solingen '93 — the 30th anniversary”

The museum Center for Persecuted Arts Has that Commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the far-right attack on the Genç family documented on film. Part of the events was the opening of Exhibition “Solingen '93 — Unutturmayacağız! Never forget! ” in Center for Persecuted Arts.
Speakers at the exhibition opening included Claudia Roth, Minister of State for Culture and Media, Tim Kurzbach, Lord Mayor of Solingen and Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister and Chairman of the Exhibition's Board of Trustees. Özlem Genç spoke on behalf of her family at the inauguration of Mevlüde-Genç Square on May 28, as well as at the municipal memorial service in the theatre and concert hall on May 29, 2023. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier also found impressive words here.
The film conveys various perspectives and demands on the culture of remembrance in an immigration society, not least from Mevlüde Genç, who died on October 30, 2022, and who we see as a mission for our house.

We are also pleased that the Solingen City Archive has had the “Solingen '93” exhibition documented with a 360° tour of the company Excit3D GmbH. This gives us the opportunity to keep this space of encounter and remembrance permanently open.
