A project by the Humboldtgymnasium Solingen

With a lot of creativity, ninth grade students of the Humboldtgymnasium Solingen created imaginative encounters with artists from our permanent exhibition. All texts were written and set to music by the young people themselves.

At the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year, the classes focused intensively on the history of German emigrants who had to leave their homes after 1933 due to persecution by the Nazi regime. They read the novel “The path. The story of an escape to freedom” by Rüdiger Bertram. The protagonist of the novel is Rolf, a boy from Berlin who emigrated to France with his parents Katia and Ludwig. From there, his journey continued across the Pyrenees to Spain and Rolf made a close friendship with the escape assistant Manuel. Artists from the community foundation's collection have also experienced many of these stations. This is how the idea was born to let the boy Rolf meet the artists.

During a visit to Center for Persecuted Arts The students have worked intensively on our permanent exhibition. This has resulted in texts that deal creatively and empathetically with the biographies but also the works of the artists.

On the occasion of Presentation of Karl Schwesig's estate and the museum's redesigned permanent exhibition Center for Persecuted Arts On February 1, 2024, students from Humboldt Gymnasium presented the results of their project: a Path with QR codes, which you can follow on a map and listen to in the exhibition. Headmaster Alexander Lübeck was pleased with the opportunity for young people to explore cultural spaces such as Center for Persecuted Arts and were able to participate in the development of the exhibition in the best sense of the word. The author Rüdiger Bertram was very moved by the short audio plays by his protagonist Rolf and took time to talk to the students, who also got an autograph or two.

The plans with the QR codes are now available in the permanent exhibition. Here are three examples:

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
